Zooter's Math Zingers
More Mileage
For Middle School Students
The facts
Brian, Emma, Rob, Joe and Kim each went on trips with their families.
They kept track of how far they went and the amount of gas they used.
- Brian’s
family drove 430.1 miles on 25.3 gallons of gas compared to Rob’s family
who used 18 gallons of gas to go 493.2 miles.
- Kim’s family travelled
for 435 miles but consumed 3 gallons less than Rob’s family.
- Her friend
Emma’s family drove 27 miles further than Kim’s family on 16.5 gallons.
- Joe knows his family’s car gets 20 miles to a gallon. He figured that
out because they had driven 320 miles on 16 gallons.
Find the miles per
gallon for each family’s car and list them in order from the best gas
mileage to the least.
